Henry Pippenger McKern was my g-g-g-Grandfather. He and his family left Iowa around 1861 and headed west, going first to Walla Walla, Washington Territory, and then Linn Co., and later Yamhill Co., Oregon. They came with John Henry Maddux and some related family.
