Ellen Alice Wellington McFarland, 89, of Karen Acres, Urbandale, formerly of New London, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 1996, at Karen Acres.
Born April 3, 1907, in Wellington, Kan.; she was the daughter of Albert Alexander and Hannah Washburn Wellington. She married Charley Orm McFarland April 11, 1925, at Mount Pleasant. He died Dec. 11, 1975.
Mrs. McFarland had worked for many years at Wainwright Glove Factory in New London. She retired from Metromail of Mount Pleasant.
She was a member of the New London Christian Church and before moving to Urbandale, was a member of the Congregate Meals Kitchen Band.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Worden of West Des Moines; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and six brothers.
Friends may call after noon Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Elliot Chapel in New London.
The funeral for Mrs. McFarland will be 11 a.m. Friday at Elliot Chapel with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
A memorial has been established.
