S. J. “Charlie” Wellington I, 91, of 301 N. Jackson, Mount Pleasant, died at 8:40 a.m. Monday, October 30, 1995, at Park Place Care Center, Mount Pleasant.
Born Aug. 25, 1904, at Lowell, he was the son of Albert A. and Hanna Washburn Wellington. On Aug. 5, 1932, at Mount Pleasant, he married Elizabeth G. Willey.
He had worked for M. L. Dickson at the Temple Theater and Ridge Drive-in for many years. He retired from Sader’s Blacksmith Shop in Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, S.J.”Si” Wellington of Mount Pleasant; six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Wellington of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and one sister, Ellen McFarland of Urbandale.
He was preceded in by his parents, two sons, four brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at the Weir Funeral Home with the Rev. Deborah Kiesey officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the First United Methodist Church.
