William Samuel Wellington
NEW LONDON – William Samuel Wellington, 84, New London, died in Burlington Medical Center Wednesday, Aug. 17.
He was born Jan. 15, 1899 to Albert and Hannah Washburn Wellington, at New London, where he married Helen Walker on Nov. 8, 1924; she died March 14, 1982.
Mr. Wellington served more than 60 years with the New London city utilities department. He was a member of the fire department of 35 years and was a member of the Unites Methodist Church.
Surviving; Son, Billy G., Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Dick Wellington, Cottonwood, Ariz., Allan Wellington, Hot Springs, Ark., and Charles Wellington, Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Ellen McFarland, Des Moines, Charlotte Ball, Ft. Madison, and Mary Westerbeck, New London; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday, Elliot Chapel, the Rev. George White; Burge Cemetery. A memorial for the New London Fire Department.
