Elbert Cresap
Elbert D. Cresap, 86, of Clive, formerly of Danville, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Born Oct. 1, 1918, in Davenport, he was the son of Claude and Ora Flossie Hale Cresap. On March 4, 1950, he married Doris Wilson in rural Danville.
Mr. Cresap was an accountant for Des Moines County Farm Service in Danville, retiring in 1981.
He was a 1936 graduate of Danville High School and attended Burlington Junior College and Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. He was a member of Danville Methodist Church and was a 50-year member and past master of Masonic Lodge 48 AF & AM. He was a former Danville Care Center board member and former board of directors member for Jaggar Cemetery. He was a World War II Air Force veteran with the rank of clerk.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Marlys Davis of Grand Rapids, Mich., Linda Plummer of Urbandale, Julie Crotty of Cedar Falls and Barb Coselman of Waterloo; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Cresap will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Danville Methodist Church, with Pastor Richard Latta officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville.
Memorials have been established for Danville Methodist Church, Danville Care Center and Hospice of Central Iowa/Kavanagh House, 900 56th St., Des Moines, Iowa 50312.
