CLASSMATES OF LAURA LEEDHAM ATTEND FUNERAL

One of the largest and saddest funerals in the community for sometime was that of Laura Leedham, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Leedham, who died at her home last Saturday afternoon at the age of 13 years. Fourteen weeks ago, during the mump epidemic, she became sick, following the mumps, complications of heart trouble and rheumatism made it necessary for her to remain in bed and have the care of a trained nurse. She was conscious Saturday and seemed to feel better.

At the funeral services, which were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the home, the freshman class of New London high school attended in body. A number of nurses, friends of Mabel Leedham from the Burlington hospital attended in a body.

The following school mates acted as honorary pallbearers: Vera Henessee, Alice Randall, Zurella Freeman, Almeda Miller, Bernice Ritchey and Marie Johnson. The pall bearers were also schoolmates: Dale Wright, Virgil Codner, Zen Earnest, Leslie Vincent, John Hanson, and John Randall.

The services were conducted by Rev. C.A. Speagh. The quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Westerbeck, Mrs. Bessie Cook and Willis Brown sang three songs. Interment was at Burge cemetery.
