Mrs. Albert Cornick Died Friday

Mrs. Albert Cornick, descendent of one of the oldest families in Henry County, died in the Memorial hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Friday morning at 11:45. She had been ill for three months. She was born in Des Moines County and after her marriage to Albert Cornick, November 3, 1886 at New London, they located on a farm four miles northeast of Mt. Pleasant. They were among the most prominent farmers in the county and well known.

Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill Methodist chapel at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Howard Ball, assisted by the James A. Wilson, officiated. Mrs. Paul Ratliff, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Abraham, sang “Perfect Day” and “In the Garden”. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Glen Campbell, George Beattie, Cecil McGohan, James Monger, Clyde Nihart, George Wright, Frank Abraham and Lester Schuerman.

India Belle Holland was born in Des Moines County, September 28, 1863, the daughter of Elizabeth Moats and Alva Holland. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist chapel, the Good Samaritan society of the chapel and a charter member of the American Legion auxiliary.

She was the last of 12 children and is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Clara McCabe, Raymond Parke and Ellis Cornick and Mrs. Grace Van Syoc, all of Henry County. Also, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
