Joseph Cresap was born near Danville, Iowa, Nov. 22, 1853, died February 3, 1922; age sixty-eight years, 3 months, and eleven days.
August 20, 1874; he was united in marriage with Margaret C. Williams. To this union were born five children four of whom are now living, one daughter having died in infancy. The daughters, Mrs. Emmett Davey and Mrs. Warren Hobbs, reside near New London. The sons, Alford and Victor live at home. Besides these of his immediate family he leave other relatives and a hosr of friends who will miss his presence from their midst.
Mr. Cresap had resided all of his life in Danville township, one mile from where he was born. Through business dealing he was well known all over Des Moines, Lee, and Henry counties since he dealt quite extensively in livestock.
He was a man of sterling integrity and sought to leave the impress of this splendid characteristic upon his children. He was kind to those in need, but he sought no publicity in helping others. As far as we know, he left not one enemy behind, but a great circle of friends.
He was converted in early manhood and joined the Pleasant Grove M.E. church. Funeral services were held on Tuesday in Beulah church, after which the body was laid to rest in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
