Lucille Alice VanSyoc, 79, of New London died as the result of a car accident Friday, July 15, 2005, east of Danville.
Born Oct. 28, 1925, she was the daughter of Robert and Mabel Schroeder Schmidt. On Jan. 12, 1947, she married Harold VanSyoc in Burlington.
Mrs. VanSyoc worked with her husband at the family businesses, VanSyoc Auction and Realty and the Middletown Sale Barn, and in farming. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the New London Presbyterian Church. She was a former member Order of the Eastern Star. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and in the church choir. She enjoyed golf, quilting, baking and cooking, traveling and playing cards and board games.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Randy VanSyoc of Round Top, N.Y.; two daughters, Sherry Jones of New London and Sandy Griffin of Danville; six grandchildren; and five great–grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, one brother, one infant sister, one stepsister and one stepbrother.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. VanSyoc will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New London Christian Church, with Pastor Sue Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
A memorial has been established for New London Rescue Unit, Danville Fire and Rescue and New London Presbyterian Church.
