Nickalus Roth, 85, passed away at Parkview Home, Wayland at 9:06 A.M. Sunday, March 18, 1984. Born January 5, 1899 at Milford, Nebraska, the son of Benjamin and Barbara Ulhrick Roth, he was married March 4, 1920 to Barbara Ellen Miller at Milford. She preceded him in death on August 6, 1969.

A member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Mr. Roth was a retired farmer and for a number of years was also employed at the Henry County Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.

He is survived by five children: Doris, Mrs. Raymond Graber, R.R. 3, Mt. Pleasant; Neal Roth, rural Wayland; Owen Roth, rural Washington; Kathryn, Mrs. Gerald Nebel, Wayland; and Lois, Mrs. Herbert Swan, R.R. 5, Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Ezra Roth, Seward, Nebraska; three sisters, Lena, Mrs. Dan Sutter, Kalona; Mabel Erb and Esther Roth both of Milford, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a great grandson, and a sister, Mary Birkey.

Funeral services were held from the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church Wednesday, March 21, 1984 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Edmond Miller, pastor of the church and Rev. Rick Dunn, pastor of the New Life Parish, officiating.

Music was by organist Greta Fish; vocalist, Herbert Swan; Chorister, Edie Nebel, and a quartet, Gary Graber, Gloria Graber, Edie Nebel, Normal Leichty. Casketbearers were Russell Graber, Curtis Swan, Douglas Swan, Carroll Yoder, Ronald Roth, and Grant Nebel. Interment was in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Parkview. Arrangements for the services were by Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland.
