9/1/1921 – Wayland News

A long time resident of Walnut township passed away early Wednesday morning, August 24, when Peter Reininger answered the final summons. Mr. Reininger had been to Iowa City recently to consult specialists but found no relief.

Born in Langenfeld, Germany, August 3, 186?, he was baptized in the Lutheran church and later also instructed and confirmed. In 1888 he came to America coming to this section of Iowa immediately. On Dec. 13, 1893 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Clara Heisberger at which time he went to farming on the farm where the family now lives. To them were born five children: John, George, Albert, Christina, and Frieda who are all at home. Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his death numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Reininger has been in failing health for the past year and his condition became critical about March 1st. His malady could not be cured by medical skill. Mr. Reininger was known as an industrious and honest man. He was a member of the Lutheran church at Germanville, where the funeral services will be conducted by his pastor, R. Reichen, Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
