E. Roy Ping, 79, of Winfield died Tuesday morning, March 19, 1974, at his home in Winfield following a lingering illness.
The son of the late Samuel and Jesse Lyons Ping, he was born Dec. 4, 1894, east of Mediapolis.
Mr. Ping had lived in the Winfield vicinity since 1920.
He was married on July 10, 1918, to Nellie Supplee at Waco, Texas.
A life-time farmer, Mr. Ping was an infantry sergeant in World War I. He belonged to the United Presbyterian Church, was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was also a past president of the American Legion.
Survivors include his widow; one son, Jack of Cresco; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; a number of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. in the United Presbyterian Church in Winfield. The Rev. Charles McCracken will officiate with interment in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery.
Friends may call as they desire at the Barton - McKasson Funeral Home, Winfield.
