Winfield Beacon December 07, 1961.

Roy Skipton, 75, died at his home in Winfield at
3:30 am Saturday, December 2, 1961 after several
months illness.

Roy Sam Skipton was the son of Willis and Effie
Farmer Skipton. He was born February 11, 1886,
south of Winfield.

On May 6, 1910, he was married to Bertha Taylor
of Winfield. He was a carpenter and made Winfield
his home all his live.

Beside his wife, he is survived by two brothers,
Harry Skipton of Fayette and Glenn Skipton of
Marshalltown, one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one
sister and three brothers.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Barton-
Mckasson Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. C.E.
Chandler, D.D., Pastor of First Presbyterian
Church, officiated.

Mrs. Keith Crawford was organist; William Ibbotson, James Kongable, Clarence Underwood,
Fred North, William Kramer and Earl Tesdahl,
bearers.

Burial was in Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery.
