BRIGHTON - Last rites were held Saturday for Conrad E. Hanze who died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds at his home in Brighton Thursday.
Services were held at the Finley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Higdon in charge. Burial was in Finley Cemetery, Beatty-Jennings Funeral Home of Wayland was in charge of the services.
Conrad E. Hanze was born Sept. 7, 1902, at Grundy Center. He was married Sept. 7, 1925, to Kitty Neff at Wayland. She died March 16, 1962. He later married Ethel Miller Aug. 5, 1967.
Before moving to Brighton he formerly lived in the Pleasant Lawn and Finley Communities near Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Roger, Swedesburg; three grandchildren; three step-children, Mrs. Harold Rebling, Fairfield; Mrs. Betty Standley, San Leandro, Calif.; and Raymond Miller, Fairfield; ten step-grandchildren; one brother, Chris Hanze, Shell Rock; one sister, Leona Krahulle, Milwaukee, Wis.; and three half-sisters, Viola Butler, Marian Hansen and Jeanette Freese, all of Dike.
