NEW LONDON, Iowa - Malcolm R. Magel, 13, of New London, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at his home.
Service at the New London Christian Church. The Reverend’s Rod Cooper and Sam Reighard will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the services.
A memorial has been established to Ducks Unlimited and New London Community School Athletics. Elliott Chapel, 100 Redbud Drive, New London, is in charge of arrangements.
Malcolm was born Oct. 4, 1995, in Burlington, the son of Troy Robert Magel and Marti Jo Lamm Magel.
He attended Van Allen School in Mount Pleasant and was currently a seventh-grader in New London.
He was a member of the New London Christian Church and a member of the youth group. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, PlayStation, riding his bike, jumping curbs, making people laugh and flirting. At school, he participated in wrestling, baseball and football.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Marti and Chad Boal, New London; his father, Troy Magel of West Burlington; a sister, Mollie Jo Magel; a brother, Grant Corbin Boal, at home; grandparents, Dennis and Colleen Lamm, New London, Steve and Pat Willey Smith, Muscatine and Tina and Larry Magel, West Burlington; a great-grandmother, Valerie Fahlgren, West Burlington; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Malcolm Fahlgren, whom he was named after.
