Velda Pearson
Velda Louise Pearson, 85, of New London, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 5, 1916, in Windsor, Ill., she was the daughter of Godfrey Andrew and Esther Hanson Anderson. On July 13, 1940, she married Harry J. Pearson in Iowa City. He died Sept. 29, 1998.
Mrs. Pearson was a homemaker.
She was of the Christian faith. She was a member of New London Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She loved flowers, enjoyed dancing and being a great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include one son, Larry Pearson of New London; one daughter, LaVon Vantiger of West Point; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alma Langford of Omaha, Neb.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son and three brothers.
The body has been cremated.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial graveside service for Mrs. Pearson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Burge Cemetery in New London. The Rev. Dan Buck will officiate.
