Helen Drewer
Helen G. Drewer, 96, of New London, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at New London Nursing & Rehab.
Born Dec. 14, 1904, south of Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Claude and Anna Rudd Gray. On Dec. 24, 1925, she married James Raymond Baird. On Nov. 30, 1936, she married Earl Drewer in Mount Pleasant. He died Oct. 14, 1971.
Mrs. Drewer was a teacher's assistant in New London schools for many years.
She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, Joy Circle, Senior Citizens and Vi's Busy Bee Quilters. She was an avid quilter.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Masciana of Orlando, Fla.; two grandsons; one brother, Ted Gray of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
The funeral for Mrs. Drewer will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Brian Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established for New London United Methodist Church.
