Doris Miller
Doris Louise Dadisman Miller, 80, of New London, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 11, 1920, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Mamie Hughes Dadisman. On Nov. 20, 1937, she married Carl Henry Miller in Burlington. He died June 25, 1993.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and cared for the sick and elderly in their homes.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in New London, Unity Circle, Senior Citizens and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers and working for her church.
Survivors include three daughters, June Cosgrove of New London, Carolyn Christner of Wayland and Sherri Miller of Tulsa, Okla.; six sons, Carl Edward Miller and David Miller, both of New London, Lloyd and Jack Miller, both of Mount Pleasant, Don Miller of Manchester and Bob Miller of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Miller will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
Memorials have been established for New London United Methodist Church and New London Rescue Unit.
