W. Raymond Dillavou
W. Raymond Dillavou, 89, of Denmark, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born June 13, 1911, in Lowell, he was the son of Edgar C. and Viola Murray Dillavou. On July 29, 1930, he married Gladys Blint in Mount Pleasant. She died March 26, 1978. On June 11, 1987, he married Annamary Young Goosey.
Mr. Dillavou worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 30 years before retiring. He farmed in his earlier years.
He was a member of Denmark United Church of Christ, Denmark Senior Citizens and Fort Madison Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Delores Ruschill of New London; one granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Dillavou of Seaton, Ill.; one stepson, Russell Goosey of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Leanne Lemley of Franklin; two stepgrandchildren; one niece; and four nephews.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two grandchildren and one son-in-law.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Tuesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
A memorial service for Mr. Dillavou will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. David O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Burge Cemetery in New London.
Memorials have been established for Denmark Fire and Rescue and Burge Cemetery.
