MRS. MARY JEFFERY
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Jeffery, who died at her home in Trenton, Iowa, on June 11, 1925, were held in the Methodist church of that place on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. In spite of a very heavy rain, many old friends and neighbors assembled. The flowers were many and beautiful. Pastor C.J. Hallman of the Trenton Mennonite church and his brother, W.R. Hallman, an evangelistic singer, with Mrs. C.J. Hallman as pianist, sang the hymns. Pastor Frank Weston of the First Baptist church, Mt. Pleasant, assisted by Rev. John F. Tracy, conducted the services. He preached from Psalm 125:1. The pall bearers were Guy Jeffery, Charles Moore, Isaac Holt, Asa Holt, Ed Baust and Fred Roberts. Interment was in Green Mound cemetery.
The maiden name of the deceased was Mary Danahy [sic: Danihy]. She was a daughter of Michael and Johanna Danaby [sic: Danihy], and was born in county Cork, Ireland, November 16, 1848. On January 25, 1873, she and David Jeffery were united in marriage. Three children were born to their union. One, Glen Jeffery, died ten years ago. Those remaining to mourn the going of a good Christian mother are Orville Jeffery, Waterloo, Iowa, and Howard Jeffery, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Brotzer, Lockridge, Iowa, and Mrs. Margaret Hogan, Omaha, Nebraska, one brother, Dennis Danahy, Muskogee, Okla., two grandchildren and other relatives and friends survive. Mrs. Jeffery was happily converted years ago and lived an earnest Christian life, always ready to witness for her Master. She died in the triumph of faith.
