Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” December 16, 1918:

MRS. JOHANNA E. MIER

Mrs. Johanna Enoch Mier, wife of John Mier, 4 miles northwest of the city, died yesterday afternoon at 3:25 o’clock at Mt. Pleasant of cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 60 years. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.R. Arbogast, Mrs. Scott Hilton of Farson and Mrs. Morris Hadley of Richland, three sons, Chester, in camp in New Jersey, Louis of Des Moines and Andrew at home, her mother, Mrs. Enoch, one sister, Mrs. F. Lowery and one brother Grant Enoch both of Peoria, Ill. She was a member of the St. Patrick church at the time of her death. The remains were brought to Sullivan’s undertaking parlors this morning from Mt. Pleasant. Funeral arrangements will be made later.

Funeral Notice From “Ottumwa Courier,” December 18, 1918:

MRS. JOHANNA E. MIER

The funeral of Mrs. Johanna Enoch Mier, who died Sunday at Mt. Pleasant will be held tomorrow morning at 8:45 o’clock at Sullivan’s undertaking parlors and at 9 o’clock at St. Patrick’s church, the Rev. H.J. Hogan officiating. Interment in Calvary cemetery.
