LOCKRIDGE - Services were held in New London Monday for Roger Dale Garrels, 62, Lockridge, who died Saturday at University Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Henry County Oct. 14, 1921, the son of Roy and Edna Scarff Garrels. He married Margaret Pennebaker at Kahoka, Mo., Nov. 7, 1942.
Garrels was a member of the Lockridge Lions Club, town council and volunteer Fire Department, and the Iowa Kidney Foundation. He was supervisor of plumbing and heating maintenance at the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include his widow; two sons, Gary who lives at Sperry, and Gail, Brighton; three daughters, Mrs. Harold Luzadder, Mrs. Dixie Nicholson and Patty Garrels all of Fairfield; four grandchildren; his parents who reside at Danville; three sisters and one brother.
