GLASGOW - Everett McElwee, 72, lifetime resident of the Round Prairie Community, died this morning at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Round Prairie Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in Lambirth Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Beatty-Henning Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. The family requests memorials to the Round Prairie Baptist Church of which he was a member.
Everett McElwee was born Feb. 4, 1902, in Round Prairie Township, the son of Fred and Linnie Litton McElwee. He was married to Amy Barton at Mount Pleasant who survives.
He is also survived by one brother, Thomas McElwee, Lockridge; and two sisters, Mrs. Jay Barton, Mount Pleasant, and Mrs. Mildred Charboreau, LaSalle, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two infant sons.
