Fox Valley Teacher Dies Riding In Car

KEOSAUQUA - A Cantril woman died four miles north of Memphis, Mo., in a car en route home Wednesday. Dead is Mrs. Marie T. Peel, 65, who had been to Kirksville, Mo., for a physical checkup and was returning home with a friend.

She was a long time school teacher in the Van Buren county school system. At the time of her death she was English and dramatics teacher at Fox Valley Community school. She had taught 30 years, mostly in the Van Buren area.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Peel was born June 11, 1898, the daughter of George L. and Michel Lynn Tomlinson. On June 20, 1933, she married Loren I. Peel in Keosauqua, who survives. The couple had lived in Cantril since 1954 and previous to that had lived in Bonaparte for seven years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Mt. Pleasant; PEO at Milton; Cantril OES and Emerson club; and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's club of Iowa.

Services Sunday

Besides her husband she is survived by one brother, Ralph Tomlinson of Des Moines. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Neva Ensminger of Wever.

Services will be Saturday 2 p.m. (CST) at the Cantril Christian church with Elder Herb Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery at Mt. Pleasant. The body is at the Burnett-Catcott Funeral home in Keosauqua.
