Eugene Hiatt dies

MOUNT PLEASANT - Edward Eugene Hiatt, 51, native of Richland and a former Fairfield area resident, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Finley Methodist Church near Trenton in Henry County. The Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate and burial will be in the Finley Cemetery. He was a member of the church.

Edward Eugene Hiatt was born Dec. 26, 1930, at Richland, the son of Lee and Pauline Robinson Hiatt.

He was married to Sharon Hutchison Dec. 31, 1951, at Fairfield. They ??farmed in the Trenton area for the past several years.

Hiatt was survived by his widow, four daughters and one son: Pam Pulse, Debbie Mueller and Christy Henkle, all of Mount Pleasant; Cindy Hiatt, Burlington; and Ed Hiatt, at home.

Other survivors include his parents, Fairfield; five grandchildren; one brother, Robert Hiatt, Fairfield; two sisters, Mary Louise Sutherlin, Fairfield, and Lois Thomas, West Burlington.

Visitors may call at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant after 9 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Diabetic Association.
