Bernadine Evon Larson, 87, of Winfield died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Oct. 9, 1920, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of Leland and Laura Walker Bozarth. On Feb. 10, 1940, she married Dale Larson in Indianola. He died Feb. 27, 1990.

She was a graduate of Mount Union High School. She was a former Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and Gray Lady volunteer at MHI in Mount Pleasant. She was a member of various neighborhood clubs, O.E.S., United Methodist Women, Amitie Club, Questers, Red Hat Society, Winfield United Methodist Church, and a former member of Canaan United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Larson of Iowa City, Dick Larson of Winfield and Jeff Larson of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Cindy Finke of Winfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Bozarth of Yarmouth; and three sisters, Garnet Coberley of New London, Ann Levins of Burlington and Joyce Bozarth of Wapello.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Larson will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Winfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nancy Bender officiating. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery in rural Mount Union.

A memorial has been established for Winfield United Methodist Church.
