Death Takes Sam Clawson

MOUNT PLEASANT - Last rites for Samuel F. Clawson, 77 were held this afternoon at the Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home here.

Clawson, a resident of Oakland Mills, died early Saturday in Burlington Memorial Hospital. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alton Koch with burial in Oakland Mills Cemetery.

Clawson was employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for 23 years. He was operator of the hydroelectric plant at Oakland Mills until it was closed. He later served as a meter-reader in Fairfield until his retirement April 1, 1961.

Clawson was born March 31, 1896 in Henry County, the son of James and Helena Blythe Clawson. He was married to Adila Hockett March 3, 1926. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Ralph, Burlington, and Paul, Barrington, Ill.; and one daughter, Mrs. Ben Breazeale, Mount Pleasant. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
