Edison Leu rites on Tuesday

MT. PLEASANT - Edison H. Leu, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday at Henry County Health Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley Chapel northeast of Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Brown Garlock officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery at Stockport. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where a memorial has been established to the Lions Eye foundation.

Leu was born March 7, 1905 in Jefferson County, the son of Christian O. and Mertie Jennings Leu. On Dec. 16, 1933 at Memphis, Mo., he married Lola Mae Johnston, who preceded him in death. He farmed northeast of Mt. Pleasant and was grounds supervisor at the Mental Health Institute for 16 years. He was a member of Wesley Chapel of United Methodist Church at Mt. Union, Moose Lodge and Eagles at Burlington.

Surviving are four sons, Larry K. and Terry W. both of Gillette, Wyo., Ronnie E. of Overland, Kan., Raymond P. of New London; four daughters, Norman Stodgell of New London, Mary Jo Gerleman of Mt. Pleasant, Virginia Cooper of Burlington, Connie Danner of Billings, Mont.; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, John of Florida, Clifford of Walker, Harry of Danville, Roy of Fairfield and one sister, Ruth Ruhl of California. Three sisters preceded him in death.
