Edna Weaklend

Edna L. Weaklend, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Feb. 16, 1908, in Henry County, Ill., she was the daughter of Edward E. and Maude Anthony Dawson. She married Donald C. Wilson Dec. 20, 1928, at Danville. She later married Elmer S. Weaklend Nov. 11, 1972. He died Oct. 8, 1980.

She lived most of her adult life in Mount Pleasant and was a psychiatric aide at Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant for many years. She owned and operated Edna's Exchange for several years. She was a member of Safety Rebekah Lodge No. 409 at New London and Northside Mothers Club.

Survivors include three sons, Donald C. Wilson of Flippin, Ark., Dale C. Wilson of Mount Pleasant, and Dennis C. Wilson of Twin Lakes, Mich.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Roberta Netzel of Wausau, Wis.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

There will be no visitation.

A private family memorial service and burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Forest Home Cemetery, with the Rev. Chris Myers officiating. Her body has been cremated according to her wishes.

A memorial has been established for Henry County Care Facility Residents Recreation Fund. Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant, is in charge of arrangements.
