Harry Weaver

Harry C. Weaver, 71, of Mount Pleasant, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at his home after an extended illness.

Born March 23, 1930, in Fairfield, he was the son of Leonard and Violet Doretha Black Weaver. His mother died when he was 17 days old and his grandparents, Harry and Wynona Black, raised him. He attended various country schools and Fairfield High School. On June 1, 1985, he married Hazel Mae Johnson Housh at Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mount Pleasant.

He was a long-time over-the-road semi driver and took pride in his record of more than 4 million safe driving miles. While driving for Wal~Mart he was elected to serve on many committees.

All his life he had a deep love for trucks and driving them and he took excellent care of his truck. He loved to garden and take care of his yard. He was devoted to feeding animals and birds that crossed his property and loved being a grandparent a great-grandparent.

He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Kerry and Donald Housh, both of Mount Pleasant, two stepdaughters, Sherry Ford of Mount Pleasant and Patricia Deatherage of Kankakee, Illinois, nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, his father of Birmingham and one son, Jerry Charles of California.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, his grandparents and one step son.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Weaver will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip A. Borleske officiating. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Henry County Hospice.
