Eva. L. Swailes

Mrs. Eva L. Swailes, 78, Kincaid Trailer Court East, died Sunday, May 27, 1990 at 7:15 a.m. at the Henry County Health Center.

She was born September 30, 1911 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Lincoln and Myrtle Cary Messer.

On March 11, 1930, in Mount Pleasant, she married Simon Asbury Swailes, who died July 15, 1971.

She worked as a home-health worker and as a nurse's aide for many years at Henry County Health Center.

Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Richard (Becky) Van Winkle of Mount Pleasant and Mrs. Willard (Donna) Church of Salem; one son, Rex Swailes of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Laird of Rome and Mrs. Frances Turner of Sacramento, California.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Elzie Messer and Delbert Messer; a sister Gayle Ensminger, and two infant grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Virgil Fry officiating.

Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church and the Leukemia Society and may be left at Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home.
