Simon Swailes

Simon A. Swailes, 73, died at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Thursday, July 15, 1971 at 1:45 p.m.

The son of Robert W. and Ida Messer Swailes, he was born April 15, 1898 in Henry county, Iowa, where he had lived all his life. He presently resided at Kincaid Trailer Court, Route 1 and until he retired, had worked at the IAAP at Middletown. On March 11, 1930 at Fairfield, he was married to Eva Messer, who survives.

Also surviving are one son and two daughters, Rex C. and Becky Ann Swailes of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Willard (Donna) Church of Salem, two brothers and two sisters, Robert of Watertown, Wisc., Howard of Rome, Mrs. Lee Byers of Fairfield and Mrs. Velma Kinney of Portland, Oregon. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 17, 2 p.m. at Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home. Rev. H. T. Holman, pastor of the Penacostal Church of God, officiating. Interment -- Forest Home Cemetery.
