Dorothy Swailes

Mrs. George (Dorothy) Swailes, 80, 606 E. Warren, Mt Pleasant, died of an apparent heart attack at 4:56 a.m., Sunday, July 19, 1992, ay Henry County Health Care Center.

She was born April 29, 1912, east of Mt. Pleasant, to Orlando C. and Ada Fetterman Jacobs. On Feb. 3, 1931, at Mt. Pleasant, she married George F. Swailes who died Nov. 2, 1983.

She worked at I.A.A.P., Burlington, and Mental Health Institute and Metromail, both in Mt. Pleasant. She also helped her husband on their farm near Trenton.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant and the Eunice Circle.

Survivors include one son, Orlando F., Muscatine; four daughters, Evelyn Phillip, Ann Arbor, Mich., Pauline Pisano, Spring Valley, N.Y., Mary Keefer, Phoenix, Ariz., and Hazel Swailes, Sun City West, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; nine brothers, Roy, Ora, Roscoe, Glen, Ira, Max, George, Wilbur and Elmer Jacobs; and three sisters, Nina Moritz, Hazel Dumse and Vera Jacobs.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Virgil Fry officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, July 21, at Weir Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials have been established to First Baptist Church or the donor's choice.
