Edna Irene Stigge

Edna Irene Stigge, 89, Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, April 29, 1996 at the Pleasant Manor Care Center.

Born Oct. 6, 1906, in Henry county, she was the daughter of Harry and Etta Belle Garrels King.

She was married to Frank C. Scarff, who preceded her in death and to Thomas Young, who also preceded her in death.

On June 6, 1964, she married Walter Stigge, who preceded her in death in 1985.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, B.P.W., and was active in the Midwest Old Threshers. For many years she was a bookkeeper for car dealers and also Bud's Flowershop.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Scarff, Rome, and Robert W. Scarff, Omaha, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Nora Horn, West Burlington; two step-sons, Lile Stigge, St. Clair, Mo. and Stanley Stigge, Mt. Pleasant; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and two brothers, Raymond King and Howard King.

Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, May 1 at Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Rebekah Lodge or the Order of the Eastern Star.
