Thelma Schadt

Thelma Mae Schadt, 71, of Chariton, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, May 1, 1993, at the Chariton Manor in Chariton.

Born Nov. 17, 1921, in the White Oak community, she was the daughter of Elmer and Edna Messer Sammons Sr. She married Joseph E. Schadt May 28, 1940, at Trenton. He died April 25, 1984.

She worked for Iris City Cleaners, retiring in September 1991 with 36 years of service. After retiring, she moved to Chariton to live with her daughter, Connie.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Schadt and Connie Stonehouse, both of Chariton; a brother, Elmer Sammons Jr. of Riverside; two sisters, Viola Havel and Ruth Horak, both of Iowa City; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mrs. Schadt will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home with the Rev. Deb Kiesey officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
