Nora Scarff

Nora Grace "Gracie" Scarff, 60, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 2, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Richard Lynn and Lenora Muriel (Marshall) Scarff.

Ms. Scarff was a 1968 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, and following graduation, she enrolled in the Patricia Stevens Finishing School in Omaha, Nebraska. After college, she worked for the City of Omaha. Later she was the executive secretary for the 911 System for Douglas County, Omaha. She retired in 2002 and returned to Mount Pleasant.

She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant and a member of the Retired Employees Association of Douglas County. She had a great love for animals and was an avid supporter of the Nebraska Humane Society.

Survivors include one sister, Vicky Scarff of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; one uncle; two aunts; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where family will receive friends.

The funeral service for Ms. Scarff will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Sue Ann Cubbage officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
