Ruth Parker

Ruth Parker, 64, of 303 N. Van Buren, Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 21, 1991, at her home.

Born Jan. 22, 1926, west of Mount Pleasant, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Edward and Bessie Black Jennings. On May 10, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., she married Russell Carl Parker. He died Dec. 5, 1985.

She had worked for many years at the Sheaffer Pen Company Plant and several years at Metromail Corporation of Mount Pleasant. She was a member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church, Lockridge, and the Traveling Tires Camping Club.

Surviving are one son, Randy Parker, rural Mount Pleasant; one daughter Janet Parker, Waterloo; six brothers, Ralph Jennings, Donald Jennings, Melvin Jennings and John Jennings, all of Mount Pleasant, Elmer Jennings, Fairfield, and Tom Jennings, Hillsboro; four sisters, Mrs. Leah (Arthur) Laue, Burlington, Mrs. Jessie (R. O.) Weigert and Mrs. Edith (Burton) Bonser, both of Mount Pleasant, and Mrs. Evelyn (Kenneth) Miller, Hedrick; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.

The services for Mrs. Parker will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Augustana Lutheran Church, Lockridge, with the Rev. Ernest Elzey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for the First Augustana Lutheran Church, Lockridge.
