Russell Parker

MT. PLEASANT --- Russell C. Parker, 62, rural Mt. Pleasant, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

He was born July 24, 1923, at Salem, to Carl and Lola C. Logan Parker. On May 10, 1947, at Chicago, Ill., he married Ruth I. Jennings, who survives. He had worked for General Electric and as a carpenter. He had farmed near Yarmouth for two years and farmed northwest of Mt. Pleasant for 36 years. In served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge.

Surviving: His wife, of rural Mt. Pleasant; one son, Randy, rural Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Janet, of rural Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren; one brother, Delbert of Wayland; one step-sister, Mrs. James Thelma Simpson of Fairfield.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the First Augustana Lutheran Church, the Rev. Lenwood Monte officiating. Military burial at Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First Augustana Lutheran Church.
