Everette Moxley Dies Unexpectedly

Everette Moxley, 56, was stricken suddenly at work Saturday about 4:40 p.m. at the Burd shoe Store and died en route to Memorial hospital.

He was the son of William and Emma (Taylor) Moxley, and was born October 21, 1907, in Henry county near Hillsboro. He had resided in Mt. Pleasant most of his life, where he attended Willowbank school and graduated from high school. In 1926 he started to work as a salesman for the Burd Shoe Store. He purchased the store in 1948 and after 11 years sold it to Henry Thompkins., the present owner. Since then he has traveled for Nation Wide Advertising Specialty Co. and worked part time at the shoe store.

On March 25, 1928 he was married to Edith Shumaker, who survives.

Also surviving are four sons: Doyle Moxley of Mt. Pleasant, Don Moxley of Ottumwa, Tom Moxley of Burlington and Terry Moxley at home; his mother, Mrs. Emma Hickenbottom of Winfield; three brothers and one sister, Orville Moxley of Mt. Pleasant, Rollie Shelman of Hillsboro, Mrs. Pearl Haines of Winfield, and Courtney Shelman of Ottumwa.

An infant son, John William, his father and a brother, John Moxley predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Owen Wilson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R. K. Crane Funeral Home as they desire.

Those who wish may contribute to the Presbyterian church fund in memory of Everette Moxley
