Lyzell Messer, 63, died at the Memorial Hospital Tuesday, December 7, at 2:12 a.m., following an illness of the last several months.
The son of Calvin A. and Elizabeth (Smith) Messer, he was born September 10, 1902 in Henry county. He was a lifelong resident of Henry county and Mt. Pleasant and was employed at the Mt. Pleasant Lumber Co.
On November 28, 1931 he was married to Ruby McNeely, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons and one daughter, Arden Messer of Fairfield, Marvin Messer, Mrs. Harvey (Ruth) Snavely, Roger Messer, and Robert A. Messer, all of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Moran, and Howard Messer, both of Washington, Mrs. Stella Loder of Wayland and Mrs. Cleo Lyons of Mt. Pleasant.
His parents, two brothers and three sisters predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Rev. James Troxel, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at R. K. Crane Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
