Mrs. Susan McQuay Taken By Death

Mrs. Susan Scarff McQuay, 85, died at Rest Haven Annex about 3 a.m. Friday, June 10.

The daughter of Martin Luther and Laura Mae (Niece) Kinney, she was born January 16, 1881 in Henry county. She has been a lifelong resident of Henry county and Mt. Pleasant, residing at 109 N. Jackson since 1929. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

On January 25, 2899 she was married to Francis G. Scarff, who preceded her in death January 27, 1946. On October 4, 1953 she was married to Tom McQuay, who also predeceased her December 24, 1964.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Jay Emil Scarff and Mrs. Lawrence (Ethel) Cash, both of Rte.4, Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Kitch of Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. Olive Francis, Smithshire, Ill., Mrs. Rose Pickard of Keokuk, and Mrs. Lillie Boyd of Mt. Pleasant.

Two infant sons and two brothers predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the R. K. Crane Funeral Home. Rev. James Troxel, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the R. K. Crane Funeral Home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
