Mrs. Laurence Lampe

Mrs. Laurence (Edith) Lampe, 82, died Friday, Nov. 16, 1979 at the Mapleleaf Healthcare Center.

She was born Sept. 22, 1897 in the White Oak area, Henry County, the daughter of James W. and Martha Thorne Scarff. On Feb. 19, 1918 at Mt. Pleasant she married Laurence H. Lampe. He died Dec. 28, 1964.

Mrs. Lampe had worked for 29 years as a cook in the student union at Iowa Wesleyan College. She was a member of the United Methodist church, Mt. Pleasant, V.F.W. auxiliary, Daughters of the Union Veterans and the Breezy Club.

Surviving are two sons, Lester H. of Mt. Pleasant and Larry E. of Urbandale; two daughters, Mrs. Morris (Eleanor) Fitch and Francis Cain, both of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Willard Scarff of Mt. Pleasant; four sisters, Mrs. Iona Reed of Dearborn, Mich., Mrs. George (Blanche) Meines of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Ruben (Mary) Cronin of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. Roy (Edna) Garrells of Danville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren.

Her parents, husband, one son Leonard, and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at the United Methodist Church, Dr. Robert P. Robinson will officiate with interment in the Forest Home Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Weir-Cookes Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church.
