Service Held for Mrs. Gholson

The memorial service for Mrs. Omer Gholson was held at the Cookes Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with Dr. George C. Hunt the officiating minister. Mrs. Stanley B. Niles and Mrs. Max Stein sang "Let the Lower Lights be Burning," "We are Going Down the Valley," and "God be With You Till We Meet Again." Mrs. Dan Winter played the organ. Pallbearers were: Harry Freeman, Clifford Joy, Roy Scarff, Scott Watts, Everett Gholson, Edmond Gholson. Burial was in Forest Home cemetery.

Elsie Charlotte Ericson, daughter of Henry and Lillie Lloyd Ericson, was born July 8, 1899, in the Rome community of Henry county, and departed from this life Monday morning, June 28, 1948.

She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth, and on February 20, 1918, married Omer Gholson. They lived on farms in Henry county until they came to Mt. Pleasant in December of 1915.

Mrs. Gholson is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant and five children: Mrs. Dale Eicher of Hillsboro; Mrs. Dorothy Mathews, Mrs. Vernon Leeper and Edwin of Mt. Pleasant; and Edward of Salem. Other survivors are four grandchildren; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ericson of Mt. Pleasant, and a brother, Bernard Ericson of Mt. Pleasant. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gholson was a member of the Baptist church in Rome.
