Mrs. Earl Barr

MOUNT PLEASANT — Burns suffered last July 11 proved fatal to Mrs. Earl Barr, 47, who died in University hospitals, Iowa City, at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 8.

Mrs. Barr was burned when fluid from a cigarette lighter ignited her clothing.

Opal Verlee Nihart, daughter of William and Martha Dowell Nilart, was born near Mount Union on May 4, 1907, and spent most of her life in the Mount Pleasant vicinity. She is survived by her husband, Earl Barr, and two sons and two daughters: Jack E. Cantwell, Virgil E. and Mrs. Verlee and Joyce Elaine Barr, at home.

Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters: Clyde Nihart, Agency; William Nihart Fairfield; Glen and John Dale Nihart, both of Mount Pleasant and Mrs. Louise Ingall and Mrs. Nell Kemmery, both of Santa Monica, Calif., and two grandchildren

A daughter and three sisters died previously.

Last rites will be held at the Crane funeral home at 2 p. m. Saturday. The Rev. Donald Frank, pastor of the Pleasant Hill church, will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Home cemetery.
