Lilly Scarff

Lilly Scarff, 97, of Mount Pleasant, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1993, at Pleasant Manor Care Center.

Born Dec. 1, 1895, in Henry County, she was the daughter of John E. and M. Lucinda Mitts Bates. She married Arthur Scarff in Henry County. He preceded her in death.

She taught school in Henry County and was a cook at Mount Pleasant High School. She also had been a cook at Beulah Heights Orphanage, Beulah Heights, Ky.

She was a member of Bible Missionary Church, Mount Pleasant.

Survivors include a son, Merritt L. Scarff of Bradenton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Marilyn L. Bonhamme of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter and two sisters.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mrs. Scarff will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Weir Funeral Home with the Rev. Knox Bullock officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, northwest of Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established to Bible Missionary Church.
