Mrs. Clarence Sammons

Mrs. Clarence (Irma) Sammons, 74, Rome, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1992, at 8:36 a.m. at Henry County Health Center.

She was born June 12, 1917, in Mediapolis, the daughter of Henry H. and Edna Watson Lee. On Jan. 15, 1935, in Galesburg, Ill, she married Clarence Sammons, who died March 5, 1983.

She worked at IAAP, Burlington, and was a member of the Rome Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Henry E. and Dennis E., Rome, Guy Victor, Mt. Pleasant, Donald O., rural Salem; two daughters, Esta M. Ferguson, Mt. Pleasant, Rosie Wiggins, Rome; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Darrell; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one brother, John Lee; and one sister, Naomi Lee.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Rome Baptist Church with Rev. Virgil Fry officiating. Interment was in White Oak Cemetery, north of Rome.

Memorials have been established to the Rome Baptist Church or White Oak Cemetery.

Weir Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
