Orville C. Messer

Orville C. Messer, 86, Route 3, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Nov, 22, 1977, at 7 p.m. at the Long Term Care Unit, Henry county Health Center, Mt. Pleasant.

He was born near Rome on Feb. 21, 1891, the son of Zion and Esta Piper Messer.

Mr. Messer was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of the White Oak community.

He was married to Anna Mabel Swailes on Jan. 20, 1920, at Rome. She died April 8, 1974.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs, Kenneth (Dorothy) Hite, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. David (Marjorie) Thomas, Lockridge; one son, Pete Messer, Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sephus Messer and Leo Mess, both of Rome; and a sister, Mrs. Ortho (Daisy) Myers, Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be from the Beatty-Jennings Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alfred Dietz officiating.

Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery.

A memorial fund in memory of Mr. Messer has been established to the White Oak Cemetery Association.

Friends may call as they desire after noon on Thursday, Nov. 24.
