Anna 'Mae' Messer, 72, a resident of Parkview Care Center, 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the care center.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, near Rome, Iowa.
Open visitation will be held from 9 a.m. 6 p.m., Sunday, with the family present from 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Suburban Heights Baptist Church or Parkview Care Center activity fund.
Mrs. Messer was born June 28, 1928, in Glasgow, the daughter of Jesse and Frieda Stallman Black. She married Noel LaVerne Messer June 6, 1946. He died April 11, 1989.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Suburban Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, LaVern Messer of Kirksville, Mo., David Messer and Larry Joe Messer, both of Marshalltown, and James Messer of Fairfield; three daughters, Bonnie Haynes, Mary Smith and Carol Lewis, all of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sons, Carl Messer and John Messer.
