Noel Messer rite Friday

Noel L. Messer, 76, of 306 1/2 W. Washington Ave., died at 2:22 a.m. today, April 11, 1989, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Barney Loliar officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, north of Rome. Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation.

Messer was born Aug. 10, 1912, in round Prairie Township, the son of Josy and Alice Collins Messer. He married Anna Mae Black June 5, 1946. He was a farmer and worked as a painter at the Dexter Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1977.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, LaVerne of Queen City, Mo., David, Larry and John of Marshalltown and James of Fairfield; three daughters, Mary Dosher of Rome, Bonnie Haynes and Carol Lewis, both of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Ralph of Mount Pleasant and Max of Farmington; and one sister, Ruby Edith of Olds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and three brothers and three sisters.
