Mrs. Orville Messer

Mrs. Orville Messer, 80, died unexpectedly at her home Monday afternoon, April 8, 1974.

Anna M., the daughter of Hames and Emma Eshelman Swailes, was born Aug. 6, 1893, in Jefferson County.

Mrs. Messer resided most of her life in Jefferson County in the White Oak community. She was a member of the Trenton Legion Auxiliary.

On Jan. 10, 1920, at Mt. Pleasant, she was married to Orville Messer who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) Hite and Pate Messer, both of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. David (Marjorie) Thomas of Lockridge; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers, Mrs, Walter Jarrel and Mrs. Lowell Spicer, both of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Nancy McCannon of Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. Ada Peterson of Tempe, Ariz., John and Leslie Swailes of New London.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m. in the Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Tweed, pastor of the Congregational-Universalist Church, will officiate with interment in White Oak Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home as they desire.
